In the first of all the Sherlock Holmes stories, Dr. John Watson, discharged from military service after suffering severe wounds, is at a loose end until a chance encounter leads him to take rooms with a remarkable young man. The arrogant, irascible Sherlock Holmes is a master chemist, a talented musician, and an expert on all aspects of crime.

When a postwar search for London lodgings introduces ailing doctor John H. Watson to quirky chemist Sherlock Holmes, their collaboration in the art of observation and deduction begins. The murder is weird, because nothing has been stolen from the dead man. And there are no marks to indicate a fight. To top all of this, the man lies murdered in a house that has been vacant for a long time. And yes..."RACHE" is written with blood on the wall near the man. Now, obviously there are many questions....
