Parallel dazu muss er in der echten Welt mehr über die Person herausfinden, die ihm das Leben gerettet hat.

Andrew hat mit seinem Charakter Falk endlich das erste der fünf Schwerter errungen, die er für die Schicksalsgöttin beschaffen muss. Das nächste Schwert befindet sich in Arkem, der unterirdischen Stadt der Gremlins. Dieses Volk ist für seine unangenehme und rüpelige Art ebenso wie für eine bizarre Logik und den Hang zum Chaos berüchtigt. Ob die Gremlins überhaupt bereit sein werden, mit ihm zu verhandeln, weiß Falk nicht. Doch es besteht eine Chance, denn die Gremlins verehren die Mechanismen der Uralten. Er muss nur herausfinden, welche geheimnisvolle Verbindung zwischen diesen Mechanismen und seiner Slider-Klasse besteht.

Der niederträchtige Verrat des Stahlratten-Clans hat verhindert, dass Falk das erste der fünf Schwerter für seine göttliche Quest an sich nehmen konnte. Der neue Besitzer des Schwertes ist zugleich das Oberhaupt des Clans der Unaussprechlichen. Er hat kein Interesse daran, ein derart wertvolles Stück zu verkaufen. Doch er würde es Falk für eine Gefälligkeit in der Realität überlassen. Eine Gefälligkeit, die von Falk den Einbruch in eine gesicherte Einrichtung und den Diebstahl eines gut bewachten Gegenstands erfordert. Wie gut, dass unser Held gelernt hat, die Elektrizität zu kontrollieren.

Andrew setzt seine Erkundung von Arktanien fort. Dabei meistert er sowohl seine neue Fähigkeit im Umgang mit der Elektrizität als auch seinen Beruf als Glasbläser. Während er für die Schicksalsgöttin Elenia auf einer epischen Quest unterwegs ist, stellt er mit Schrecken fest, dass ihre Macht nicht auf die Spielwelt beschränkt ist. Aus der virtuellen Welt folgt sie Andrew in die Realität. Sollte er ihren Auftrag nicht erfüllen, steht sein Leben auf dem Spiel. Er muss weitermachen.
