Black families love and affirm their LGBTQ kids. This isn’t a narrative we hear often. But those of us who know, know that love is Black family tradition. Don't Count Me Out chronicles the life of Bruce White from the beginning of his drug use in elementary school through criminal acts fueled by his need for drugs, to his miraculous recovery three decades later and involvement in the treatment of addicts, where he is now a leader in the rehabilitation field.

This podcast is part of Out of Stigma’s Shadow, an initiative to combat barriers to seeking behavioral healthcare by raising awareness, increasing visibility, and ending stigma surrounding mental health and substance use disorders. Hear from young people talking openly and honestly about their struggles with mental health.

This creative Capstone project was organized by Sarah Scotto. The Capstone project topic is on The Opioid Crisis, and the need for more rehabilitation centers within the city of Baltimore, Maryland. Ten particpants were given a consent form prior to engaging in the interviewing process. Nine questions were asked of the participants to gather qualitative data.
