Als Gefangener des Tyrannen blickt er schließlich dem Tod ins Auge - bis eine unbekannte Macht die Geschehnisse im Kongo komplett auf den Kopf stellt... In Boston erschüttert ein weiterer Mord die Stadt. Auf der Suche nach den Drahtziehern setzt sich für Miles und Sam allmählich ein Bild zusammen, dessen Tragweite bis in den Kongo aber auch in Miles Vergangenheit zurückreicht.
