Two young women are found murdered in the heart of London. There are no answers, only a single red rose left on each young woman's body, the calling card of a cold-blooded killer. Could the Whitechapel murderer be stalking the streets of London once more? For Mikaela and Brodie, the crime is highly personal. The first victim was an accomplished musician who gave lessons to ladies of society, including their ward, Lily. She had become a close friend to the girl, and Lily asked them to take the case to find the killer.

When the family receives a second photograph of their daughter, who is quite obviously dead, their simple inquiry becomes a murder investigation. But this is no routine investigation as another photograph is received, and another body is found. As more bodies turn up, and with no known motive, Brodie and Mikaela must confront the fact that the murderer is brilliant, disturbingly talented, and quite possibly insane. What drives this cold-blooded killer to capture the last moments of their victims with such haunting clarity?
