Story0
For as long as people have traveled to distant lands, they have brought home objects to certify the journey. More than mere merchandise, these travel souvenirs take on a personal and cultural meaning that goes beyond the object itself. Drawing on several millennia of examples—from the relic-driven quests of early Christians, to the mass-produced tchotchkes that line the shelves of a Disney gift shop—travel writer Rolf Potts delves into a complicated history that explores issues of authenticity, cultural obligation, market forces, human suffering, and self-presentation.

Story0
The first 24 years of my life were spent in public housing in the city of Philadelphia Pennsylvania. It was not until my 31st birthday but I discovered that my family had roots in South Carolina. It was the passing of my father that caused the sense of something being amiss in my life to grow. I began to contact the elders and ask questions. This resulted in me learning that I had roots in Cedar swamp and Trouble Field. Two communities in WilliamsburgCounty South Carolina. This search and discovery has become a life-changing experience that continues to keep giving overwhelming joy.
