Brady Garrett needs to go home. He's a conscripted recruit on Defender Three, one of a network of stations designed to protect the Earth from alien attack. He's also angry, homesick, and afraid. If he doesn't get home he'll lose his family, but there's no way back except in a body bag. Cameron Rushton needs a heartbeat. Brady Garrett is back in space, this time as an unwilling member of a team of humans seeking to study the alien Faceless and their technology. It's not the first time Brady's life has been in the hands of the Faceless leader Kai-Ren, and if there's one thing Brady hates it's being reminded exactly how powerless he is. Although dealing with the enigmatic Faceless might actually be easier than trying to figure out where he stands with the other humans on board, particularly when one of them is his boyfriend's ex.  

Brady Garrett is back on Earth. He's living with his partner Cam and they're raising his sister Lucy together. Life is better than some feral reffo from Kopa has any right to hope, and Brady knows it. He's even grateful for it, most of the time. He loves Cam, even though he's afraid that he's not good enough for him, and he's still having nightmares about the alien Faceless. Cameron Rushton loved being a pilot once, and he still feels the pull of the starlight. He's building a life with Brady now, and with Lucy. Life is good, even if it's not without its complications. 

Betrayed by someone I thought I could trust. Disowned by parents who never loved me anyway. Which means I have nowhere to go except to another planet. To my surprise, this new life on Tavikh is almost better than my previous one. Towering lavender aliens with long, golden-blond hair, muscles for days, and tails that put naughty, wicked thoughts in my head. So what if the village is a little primitive and I'm struggling to find my place? But then some a-hole aliens from another tribe decide they need women and the next thing I know I'm slung belly-down over some mutant camel-lion-thing.

I've built a new life on the planet Tavikh, spending every day seeking penance. And despite witnessing three of my new-found friends find their fated mate, I don't dare hope to find mine. Not when there's a chance someone from Earth will arrive to take me back to face the consequences for what I did. But when a gravely wounded warrior is brought into the healer's tent, a single touch from me triggers his mating marks to appear. Maybe my punishment isn't having to return to my planet, but rather being given a mate only for him to be taken from me.

It wasn't easy escaping from the prison I'd been locked in. And an escape plan that includes a one-way ticket to an alien planet might not have been my smartest idea. But coming to Tavikh has been the best thing to ever happen to me. If I don't count the vicious aliens who keep trying to kill me.

Life has sure kicked me in the teeth. After I'm arrested for stealing, I'm given two choices: prison or get shipped to the human settlement on the planet Tavikh. Since orange isn't my color, I guess off-planet it is. Except when our ship lands we're attacked by vicious aliens. Just as I swear I'm about to die, a towering alien with long, flowing golden hair and muscles rippling beneath gorgeous purple skin saves me. When the battle is over and the good guys seem to have won, my savior tells me I'm his fated mate. I hate to break it to him, but I don't believe in fate.
