Für Mats ist der Start in den Dezember ziemlich ungewöhnlich. Er bekommt statt einer Schnur mit 24 kleinen Päckchen nur einen Adventskalender mit blöden Sprüchen. Doch dann schenkt ihm die mysteriöse Frau Karma ein Ei. Ein goldenes Ei, aus dem ein kleiner Drache schlüpft! Mats stellt schnell fest, dass der Kleine ein Weihnachtsdrache ist. Er duftet nach Weihnachtsgebäck, und so tauft Mats ihn Spekulatius. Der Weihnachtsdrache überrascht Mats und seine Schwester Mathilda jeden Tag aufs Neue. Das Leben der Kinder steht Kopf: So viel Weihnachten, so viel Chaos und so viel Abenteuer haben sie noch nie erlebt.
