I nearly had it all: a successful football career, money flowing like a waterfall, and women dropping at my feet. I was living life to the max until some pretty harsh weather conditions ended my career and ruined the rest of my life. I turned into someone I didn’t know and didn’t like and became the laughingstock of my family. They all expected me to knock up a hooker. I don’t blame them. I made a lot of mistakes.

I may be free from one of the Harkwrights, but another is taking his place. A wildcard and mystery. Whether he's better or worse than the one he's replacing remains to be seen. If I keep on baking, I might succeed in fooling myself into believing I am safe. That everything that has happened in the past two years was just a nightmare. But really that's just wishful thinking, because there are some things even fresh bread and homemade cakes cannot fix.

Who thought writing "LOSERS" on a menu could lead to an affair of love notes? It didn't start out as love. How could it when I vowed never to fall in love.... Reef Burton, the sexy blue-eyed football player, and his mates are definitely not "Losers", yet writing it on a menu gave me reason to smile. Only it didn't make it to the trash. He returns to the restaurant where I work wearing his killer smile.
