The story begins in a dusty village lost in the Argentine pampas, where a girl, born out of wedlock, scrambles her way to the capital city by the time she is 15. It ends with the embalmed corpse of Eva Peron being hidden away by nervous politicians for fear that if the working people of Argentina knew where it was buried, it would inspire them to revolution.

El 26 de julio de 1952, tras dos años de enfermedad y una larga agonía, muere Eva Duarte de Perón. Más de dos millones de personas asistieron a los innumerables funerales y ceremonias que se realizaron durante quince días en todo el territorio de Argentina y aún muchas más pudieron escuchar todos los detalles de las exequias a través de la radio. El dolor, la tristeza, el desconsuelo y la gratitud embargaron a las multitudes que lloraron su muerte.
