Join John Carver, now a new recruit of the monster-hunting organization the Order of the Octopus, as he dives deeper into the world of the supernatural. To earn his initiation Tentacle tattoo, John, alongside two fellow recruits, must embark on a mission to a small West Virginian town plagued by a recent string of grisly murders and inexplicable injuries that have left local law enforcement baffled. Racing against time to prevent more deaths, John, Harry, and Annette will have to confront an ancient evil threatening to engulf the world as we know it.

After the initial series of summer blizzards, the snowfall has decreased, but the temperatures continue to drop, the icy wind still blows, and with each passing day, the darkness lasts longer and longer. It is in the darkness the monsters thrive. Confined to the lake house and having no communication with the outside world, Grady and the others live every day in fear, questioning what the future holds. Will the snow melt? Will the sun ever rise? Can the wraiths be defeated? But as the days turn to weeks, no answers come.

In the fall of 2008, John Carver's older brother, Owen, goes missing. He is found dead a few days later, his body torn apart by the local wildlife. Despite reports of strange noises heard at the time of Owen's disappearance, the police rule the tragedy as "a death by misadventure." Fast forward to the summer of 2009. To cope with his brother's passing, John dives into the art of filmmaking. Armed with a camcorder and his two closest friends, Ali and Becca, he begins work on a horror movie with the hopes of winning the local Harvest Festival Short Film Contest and a prize of a thousand dollars.

Paul and his companions are at Becker State Park, preparing to raise the Mansion and restore it to some semblance of flight. As they do, a group of supernaturals emerges from the woods, battered and frightened. They’ve been attacked by a madman called "the Hunter" who has returned after a long time away. They speak about him with almost mythic intent, treating him like a figure from a dark fairy tale. Little does Paul know that at that moment, the Hunter may prove the demise of himself, his supernatural companions, and the House of the Talismancer.

After the devastating events on Prism Lake, Grady and the other survivors head south, hoping to find safety in one of the rumored "Cities of Light". But as they embark on their journey, they quickly discover the monsters aren't the only things out in the snow they must fear.

Harry Pershore knocks down a wall to create a secret garden, despite warnings from his friend who has spotted that the patch of land has been walled off for a reason and is actually an altar of sacrifice. Pershore ignores his friend’s advice and it’s not long before strange things start happening in the garden.
