Amadeo Bola debe investigar el robo de un sello, pequeño de tamaño, pero aparentemente de gran valor, al que han llamado "ocre mate sin dentar de dos peniques con error en base y sesgo verde". Como os podréis imaginar, un sello de tal nombre esconde detrás de él un gran valor. El propietario es, por supuesto, un millonario ricachón. Menos mal que Amadeo se mueve con soltura en estos ambientes tan refinados.

Amadeo Bola recibe el encargo de investigar la misteriosa desaparición de un pequeño cuadro de Goya, del Museo del Rincón. Amadeo recibe el encargo de no sola encontrar el dichoso cuadro, ¡sino también al ladrón! La tarea no es fácil, pues se encuentra con múltiples trabas que se interponen en su camino: su madre empeñada en hacerle comer las berenjenas y encontrarle novia (y Amadeo opina que hay que complacer siempre a los padres, que para eso están los hijos), su jefe que siempre está gritándole.
