There's a demigod on a quest for vengeance who is hunting Emily for her new magic. If Heka gets his way, her team will be nothing but collateral damage. The god of magic has eyes and ears everywhere, watching Emily. Heka's network of human prey form a secret undead surveillance system. And they could be literally anyone. Not good.

The trail has turned cold, and the Prodigal Suns have to wait for a new sign of Heka to pop up and begin the chase again. When it does, it will lead them on a mission to the other side of the world. A few of Heka's zombie followers have popped up in Turkey and Emily Trigger and the rest of her unit are sent out on the trail. Or so they think.

Emily Trigger and the Prodigal Suns are following Heka's calling card. The trail of injured and dead bodies is a dark trail leading them to the ancient god of magic. Not before a whole lot of searching for Emily and her new unit. While the Prodigal Suns wait for new intel on Heka's whereabouts, Emily finds herself faced with a few new threats of her own, and her newly altered magic suddenly doesn't seem so accidental anymore. There's a rhyme and a reason to her electrifying new abilities-somewhere-and Emily needs to figure out what that is if she wants to stop having so many close calls.
