The National Mall in Washington, DC, is home to the world-renowned Smithsonian Museums and millions of visitors each year come to view the vast collections held here—however—they rarely look at the OUTSIDE of the buildings, and most know very little of the history of this place called the National Mall. BrightPath Tours would like to change that! With Part I of our Walk Around the National Mall, we will stop at each of the buildings on the South side of the Mall and we'll discuss a variety of topics that includes the history of each site.

Looking for a break from all of the monuments and museums in Washington, DC? Your host, BrightPath Tours, will take you for a walk along one of the most famous streets in the United States: Pennsylvania Avenue. Walk at your own pace, on your own schedule! We start where Pennsylvania Avenue meets 15th Street, at Pershing Park and the WWI Memorial, where we'll see the memorial to General John "Blackjack" Pershing. Along the route, we’ll see some of the smaller monuments, including one to the man nobody remembers, Boss Shepherd, who remade Washington, DC into the city we enjoy today!

We'll continue the discussions we started in Part I, highlighting the history of the buildings, how they were built, and who bankrolled the projects—then we'll conclude with a look at some of the very modern elements that characterize the new museums of today. Starting at the National Gallery of Art East building, we’ll walk down the Mall towards the Washington Monument and we'll end the tour at the National Museum of African-American History and Culture—a stunning museum and one of the newest in DC.

On a busy canal lined street in Amsterdam, Anne Frank and her Jewish family hid from the Nazis near the end of WWII. Anne Frank wrote accounts of their lives in this confinement. Learning from the one radio they shared and quietly listened to, Anne hoped her diary would be published. It was published posthumously, by her father; Anne's only relative to survive the Nazi death camps.

You can walk thru Haight Ashbury and talk about the Victorian architecture and the neighborhood's late 19th/early 20th century history. Or you can talk about 1967 and the Summer of Love, when this neighborhood became the nexus of a cultural and political transformation. Or, you can talk about both - and weave together the fascitinating pastiche that is Haight Ashbury.

A few hours drive from most major USA cities, there is a National Wildlife Refuge. Wildlife Refuges are artificial habitats ment to entice wildlife away from farms and cities. Our tour brings us very close to nature.

The Mammoth Site of Hot Springs South Dakota announced in 2011 that it now has discovered 60 specimens of prehistoric animals in this unique paleontological site. This is where, more than 26,000 years ago, large Columbian and woolly mammoths were trapped and died in a spring-fed pond. Now we visit the in-situ site. Dr. Larry Agenbroad, founder of the site, is our guide.
