O fac cu gândul că, astfel "însemnată", viaţa mea ar putea fi folosită ca unitate de măsură. Veţi afla, astfel, doamnelor şi domnilor, dacă viaţa voastră e mai frumoasă sau mai urâtă decât a mea.

Răspunderea mea este de asemenea precisă, dar e mică, iar consecințele nu sunt ultime. Și totuși teama mea e teribilă și fac tot ce pot pentru a nu ajunge în fața omulețului în togă. Stăm față în față cu viața noastră sau cel care ne-a făcut concesia libertății. Totul aici e vag: judecătorul, vina, sentința."

Gabriel Liiceanu: Sa acceptam ca exista gânditori în fata carora te poti "preda", ca gândurile lor, în loc sa fie "digerate pâna la a li se pierde urma", devin totodata, deîndata ce le expui si interpretezi, calea ta privilegiata de acces la lucruri. Nu exista nici o garantie ca numai drumul drept te poate duce la tinta. Exista si ocoluri convenabile. Asa cum exista si exegeze mincinoase. Citezi, sistematizezi, explici. Dar o faci pe fondul unui travesti mental: lasându-l pe celalalt sa vorbeasca, vorbesti si tu odata cu el.
