We still don’t know what causes endometriosis, and we don’t know how to cure it either. What we do know is that it can cause debilitating pain and seriously impact mental health. Contrary to popular belief, endometriosis is not ‘just a bad period’, it is a whole-body disease which is as common as asthma or diabetes. Yet it is barely covered in medical school training, leaving sufferers repeatedly dismissed when trying to access medical care.

On April 23, 1984, in a packed press conference room in Washington, DC, the secretary of health and human services declared “The probable cause of AIDS has been found.” By the next day, “probable” had fallen away, and the novel retrovirus later named HIV became forever lodged in global consciousness as “the AIDS virus.” Celia Farber, then an intrepid young reporter for SPIN magazine, was the only journalist to question the official narrative and dig into the science of AIDS.

Die Autorin Ellen Key (1849-1926) war eine schwedische Reformpädagogin und Schriftstellerin. Sie entwickelte einen ausgeprägten Freiheits- und Gerechtigkeitssinn. Im Jahr 1869 erschienen erste Artikel von ihr in einer damals sehr renommierten Frauenzeitschrift, obwohl Ellen Key erst 20 Jahre alt war. Ab 1875 unterwies sie an einer Art Volkshochschule junge Damen in Geschichte und Literatur. Ihr Engagement für Frauen- und Kinderrechte verstärkte sich.
