But Wilder’s also inherited a heap of trouble in rebuilding the wildlife sanctuary, regaining the trust of the locals, and dealing with a gang of murderous thugs called Jackdaws. Wilder must re-create the stash of magical potions and remedies left by the last warden.

The water-drake rebellion dies with their leader Khlokun. However, the final battle against the revolutionary's party leaves Ben sorely injured and Sio with one of her key Attributes swapped for a strange power she can barely control. Right as Ben's party obtains their hard-earned victory, a Legion descends upon the Olerrak Marshes, capturing them so Ben can stand trial at the sprawling city of Incos, the capital of the Goldmark Tetrarchy.
