Hearing Architecture is a podcast featuring professionals from within the built environment, sharing what they do, and why it's important. For almost 30 years as label boss, producer and talent conductor at XL Recordings, Richard Russell has discovered, shaped and nurtured the artists who have rewritten the musical dictionary of the 21st century, artists like The Prodigy, The White Stripes, Adele, M.I.A., Dizzee Rascal and Giggs. Growing up in north London in thrall to the raw energy of 80's US hip hop, Russell emerged as one part of rave outfit Kicks Like a Mule in 1991 at a moment when new technology enabled a truly punk aesthetic on the fledgling free party scene.

Over three series and in front of live audiences across the UK, John Hegley presents tales of the Tate, a jumble sale and an armadillo; poems dedicated to Bonfire Night and not waving; songs about glasses; plus a surreal adventure in a Tardis-like kennel. He offers a musical ode to Jimmy Greaves, a paean to privacy, and a paper plane proposal during school assembly. The joyous possibilities of flannel, fennel and funnel are also investigated. The nation's second favourite comic poet asks, "How long is your dog?", and discovers that, sometimes, a poem doesn't necessarily want to be a poem.
