Hi everybody, I'm Dr. Trevan Hatch. In this podcast, I explore the Jewish context of the New Testament (especially the Gospels) and the Jesus traditions. I look at the Jewish elements in Jesus' teachings, how the authors of the Gospels utilized the Hebrew Scriptures as they composed their Gospels, what early Jews thought about a "messiah," and a host of other aspects of Jesus' Jewish world. I plan to post one new episode every week. You can also access these episodes on YouTube with visual aids: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtxAhHk24wrfPzFrMrNxcLA

Story0
Jesus enters Jerusalem amidst huge popular support on ‘Palm Sunday’. All the Gospels devote much space to describing the events of the next week which lead to and include Jesus’ death and resurrection. In this series we see the deep hostility to Jesus from the religious authorities and the challenge Jesus is to them by his disruption the Temple trading area. Hostile trick questions are put to Jesus in the vain hope of trapping him into saying something unwise and providing a basis for arresting him. In the end, Jesus denounces the religious authorities.

If production of weapons of mass destruction, degradation of the natural environment, and increasing deterioration of mental well-being are signs of rationality, the term is to be considered a dangerous one. In all these, one can detect lack of ethical and existential considerations which renders this worldview essentially an irrational one. On the ...
