Erfan Nouraee is an inventor and scientist who grew up in Tehran, Iran. Erfan was horrified when he saw many rural residents do not have reliable internet access, and he wanted to find a way to combat this issue. Erfan developed a sensor to make high-speed internet accessible and affordable using photonics technology as well as many contraptions to detect the emission of electrons from metal surfaces. He built his own equipment for all of these projects. Erfan was named the global winner of the UN Innovation Award 2021 as well as award winner at the Khwarizmi Youth Competition.
