In a world dominated by men, Marian McPartland distinguished herself as one of the greatest jazz pianists of her age. Born in the UK as Margaret Marian Turner, Marian McPartland learned to play classical piano, but was passionately attracted to the rhythms of American jazz. Entertaining troops in WWII Europe, she met her future husband, Jimmy McPartland, a cocky young trumpet player who was the protege of the great Bix Beiderbecke. They were married and, together, they made jazz history.

Jenny and Charlotte are both multi-faceted humans in the arts world, both performers, who also work behind the scenes in Theatre, Film and TV (from running, to stage management to scenic art) and thought a podcast would be an awesome opportunity to share our experiences with others. The idea originally came about because we wanted a space to create our own work and practice our skills as creatives. The creative world is forever changing and evolving and so we decided it would be a great idea to be proactive and jump on the podcasting bandwagon.
