Marcel Petiot, dit le Docteur Petiot, né en janvier 1897 à Auxerre et guillotiné le 25 mai 1946 à Paris, était un médecin français qui fut accusé de meurtres après la découverte à son domicile parisien des restes de vingt-sept personnes, au lendemain de la Seconde Guerre mondiale.

"Le serpent" est né le 6 avril 1944 à Saigon. Charles Sobhraj est un tueur en série français qui, dans les années 1970 aurait tué entre quinze et vingt personnes, essentiellement des touristes qui parcouraient l'Asie. Il doit son surnom de "Serpent" au fait qu'il a réussi à manipuler ses victimes, à échapper longtemps à la police, et à s'évader de plusieurs prisons. On le dit à la fois escroc, séducteur, détrousseur de touristes, roi de la cavale, expert en poisons et "meurtrier diabolique".
