Angel and the Badman is a 1947 American Western film written and directed by James Edward Grant and starring John Wayne, Gail Russell, Harry Carey, and Bruce Cabot. The film is about an injured gunfighter, who is nursed back to health by a young Quaker woman and her family, whose way of life influences him and his violent ways. Angel and the Badman was the first film Wayne produced and in which he starred, and was a departure for this genre when it was released. Writer-director James Edward Grant was Wayne's frequent screenwriting collaborator.

Reno and Will team up with John Tailer Bishop to find his wife, Angelina. Small ranchers in Harmony, Oregon, are up against it with the price of cattle down and Skull Ranch, owned by a syndicate, trying to buy them out. Dan Riley spends a month trying to find a bank to help them, but he fails. When the editor of The Clarion is shot, the ranchers blame Black Mike Sand, the manager of Skull, in spite of the circumstances of the shooting. As pressure mounts, Riley is determined to find out who is really in charge of the syndicate, and the only man willing to help him is Andrew Daniels, a former newspaper man whose courage comes from a bottle.
