Seventeen-year-old Silver King dreams of becoming a working cowboy. His mother, however, has pushed him to be a baseball player - and King certainly has the arm to be a star pitcher. When the National League forms a team in Kansas City in 1886, both mother and son get their wishes.

Harrison Wilke is thoroughly sick of Redbluff, Kansas. The town is a boring dead end, filled with unlettered roughnecks. His uncle Stewart - from whom he stands to inherit the Running W Ranch - can't stand him. Harrison doesn't even have enough money to get to the big city, where he belongs. There are a few bright spots.

Set in Dodge City, Kansas, in the 1870s, Gunsmoke aired on CBS Radio until June 1961. William Conrad starred as U.S. Marshal Matt Dillon, and he was joined by three other regulars: Howard McNear as "Doc" Charles Adams; Georgia Ellis as Kitty Russell; and Parley Baer as Chester Proudfoot.
