Jan Hendricks grew up as a farm girl in rural Montana. She leaves the farm to start college in the Big City of Billings during the Jazz Club Era of the late 1940's. At a party, she meets Lavio Rossano, a dashing, handsome, charming young man who sweeps her off her feet. After a whirlwind romance, they settle down and start a family as Jan starts to learn that there is something unusual about Lavio's profession. He is connected with a crime family, looking to set up a satellite operation at a busy shipping hub in the West.
