Between her regular job in Afterlife Arrivals, training for her second job with IA, her community service on The Bus of Death, GA meetings, taking care of her housemates, and every other ghostly commitment in between, Bridget Sway is already stretched pretty thin. Then, her best friend, Sabrina, drops a bombshell. Sabrina thinks she was murdered. And, in the afterlife, murdered dead people usually turn into homicidal maniac dead people. Despite that, Sabrina thinks if they can work out who killed her, then she might be able to get the closure she needs.

Bridget's afterlife has finally settled down into a nice, safe, dead-body-free rhythm. And she couldn't be more discontent. And then someone starts murdering livies...with a scythe. Feeling partially responsible, Bridget jumps into the investigation with both feet, her best friend, Sabrina, and all of her housemates in tow. But, as crazy as it sounds, finding a killer isn't Bridget's biggest concern. Her biggest concern is how will she be able to survive the mundanity of the afterlife once the investigation is over.

Meghan is pregnant and about to get married, but something is not right between her and Mick. She is hoping that the marriage and a baby on the way will help them to overcome their problems, but the past keeps haunting her, and now she fears that it might be too late. To make things worse Jason keeps showing up in her life, and Meghan finds it harder and harder to fight her feelings for him. And what about Meghan's empty pages in her Book of Life? Will she finally get the answers she has been searching for?

Meghan’s training at the academy is coming to an end. Everything is going great as she comes closer to graduation. She is engaged to be married, and the wedding is near, until she hears some disturbing news that makes her rethink her future. In class, the students are learning to catch dreams and fly with the speed of light. Meghan soon discovers her special talents and that she is much stronger than she thought. But unfortunately, that doesn’t help her when she faces the truth about her own death, which will be revealed to her at the end of the year.

When Bridget Sway's friend is murdered during a seance, Bridget and her best friend, Sabrina, vow to bring the killer to justice. The problem? The seance took place in the alive world which means the killer is very likely a livie. And they have no jurisdiction in the livie world. With very few options of how to proceed, Bridget and Sabrina decide to shadow the livie detective as he investigates the death.

Bridget Sway is still uncertain about her future as a private investigator. But when the Bureau of Ghostly Affairs invites her and her business partner, Sabrina, to give a presentation at a conference, they can't really say no. Thinking it will be all tea, biscuits, and boring speeches, Bridget isn't expecting too much excitement. Until she finds a dead body. That's not totally out of the ordinary for Bridget, but something about this murder has echoes of the past.
