Upon waking up from a cataclysmic dream state that engulfed an entire region, the author-to-be Lyan Ling tells her husband Lao Tzu about the fantastical vision that she witnessed in the depths of her consciousness. A world enclosed within gigantic walls, the ground is made up of large steps, each step large enough to house a medieval town. The world is populated by a hierarchal kingdom and animals that grow through photosynthesis. The sky rains gemstones and glass shards.
