These never-before-released lectures are considered by the thousands who have heard them to be profound and illuminating. Originally released by the Philosophical Research Society, Better Listen! is pleased to make available to the wider public a series of very special edition audio recordings from Manly P. Hall.

In this rare recording of Howard Carter (February 22, 1857-January 8, 1941), the English archeologist and Egyptologist discusses the experience of discovering and opening the intact tomb of 18th Dynasty pharaoh Tutankamun, known as "King Tut", in November 1922.

Sir Ernest Henry Shackleton (1874-1922) was a polar explorer who led three British expeditions to the Antarctic. During the second expedition, from 1907 to 1909, he and three companions established a new record for the "farthest South latitude", which was 97 miles from the South Pole and the closest in pole exploration history. Members of his team also climbed Mount Erebus, the most active volcano on Antarctica. For these achievements, Shackleton was knighted by King Edward VII on his return home.

Herbert Louis Samuel was a British politician who was the Liberal Party leader from 1931 to 1935. He was the first practicing Jew to serve as a Cabinet minister and to become the leader of a major British political party. In January 1915, Samuel circulated a memorandum, "The Future of Palestine", to his cabinet colleagues, suggesting that Britain should conquer Palestine in order to protect the Suez Canal against foreign powers and for Palestine to become a home for the Jewish people. In this recording, Samuel discusses the necessity for a permanent Jewish state in Palestine.

These audio recordings include a 1977 interview with 108 year old Florence Pannel, born in 1868, discussing living and working in Paris and Victorian England; a 1970 interview with Frances 'Effy' Jones recalling being one of the first women trained to use a typewriter, and life as a young woman in 1890s London; Berta Ruck, a romantic novelist, remembering her formative years at art school, and the culture shock she experienced after moving from her home in Wales to the hustle and bustle in the heart of Victorian London; and a 1972 interview with 83 year old Violet Turner.
