Für seine Arbeit verfasste er regelmäßig politisch-satirische Kommentare, die von der BBC während des Krieges gesendet wurde. Doch nicht nur die Menschen in England hörten zu. Auch im den von Deutschland besetzten Gebieten und sogar im Dritten Reich hörten Millionen von Menschen heimlich mit.
