Con esta obra, Mariano Sánchez Soler se identifica sin prejuicios con los escritores "negros" de los que en 1992 Manuel Vázquez Montalbán dijo: "como reacción a la literatura merodeante [...] nos salieron historias en las que intervenían la aventura y el delito".
