सर्व मुलांना कान, डोळे एकसारखे असले, तरी प्रत्येकाची आकलन शक्ती वेगळी असते. मुलांचा सर्वांगीण विकास करण्यासाठी त्यांच्या बौद्धिक, मानसिक, सामाजिक व भावनिक विकास होणे महत्त्वाचे असते. मुलांचेही काही प्रकार असतात. आपले मुल कोणत्या प्रकारात येते, हे लक्षात आल्यावर त्याची बलस्थाने ओळखता येतात. त्यानुसार त्यांचा विकास कसा करावा, हे समजते.
