En vísperas de Navidad, todos compran regalos y preparan la cena navideña pero Scrooge está en su despacho como cualquier día y le exige a su escribiente Bob Cratchit que trabaje hasta tarde aunque era noche de Navidad. Inclusive su sobrino le invita a pasar la noche de Navidad con ellos, pero Scrooge lo desprecia.
