Frank and Joe are back on Black Bear Mountain, the scene of a previous wilderness adventure and mind-bending mystery. This time, the brothers are checking in on Dr. K, a friend they made during their first trip. Dr. K is a fan of living off the grid, but he’s been MIA long enough to cause worry in the small mountain town. And so the teenage detectives Black Bear Mountain relied on before have been called in to help once again.

Bayport High's Green Environment Conservation Club is camping on Black Bear Mountain. Not only does the mountain live up to its name - the fierce, furry animals are everywhere - but rumor has it that a madman lurks in the nearby forest, and the crazy dude has a penchant for feasting on human flesh. When the campers wake up, however, not only do they find a bear roaming the campsite, but their teacher is missing...and blood is streaked across his tent.

A wave of motion rippled through the cattle as they broke into a run. The cows directly behind Sarah and me looked back anxiously. The entire herd would be upon us in no time. Sarah cupped a hand to her mouth. "Clear out of the way! Stampede!"

The Aldens are helping to map out a new trail on Blizzard Mountain. As they travel through the frozen wilderness, they learn that there’s treasure buried somewhere on the mountain! The children begin to search for it, but someone or something is after them. Is Blizzard Mountain haunted, or is someone after the treasure?

Ordinary Elementary is anything but ordinary. Below the classrooms are winding, abandoned, underground passages filled with lost treasures. Fifth-grader Graysen Foxx, aka The Gray Fox—finder of secrets, solver of mysteries, and explorer of the unknown—is hot on the trail of the legendary treasure of long-since-retired Principal Redbeard, which includes a decades’ worth of confiscated gadgets, rare comic books, first-edition Pokémon trading cards, an original Rubik’s Cube, and a retro football handheld video game.

Graysen Foxx is no stranger to the mysteries hidden in Ordinary Elementary—the bat-filled tunnels, the secret passageways, the underground chambers, and the sticky spiderwebs—and he’s on the hunt for a creepy old painting that will guarantee his victory in the school’s Halloween room contest. But finding and claiming the painting is only the beginning of a wild adventure filled with puzzles that will put Graysen’s treasure-hunting skills to the test. When Graysen finds a mysterious symbol on the back of a dusty spelling bee medal, the discovery spreads like creamy peanut butter.
