Written by Zacharius Ursinus and published in 1563, the Heidelberg Catechism quickly became a manual for Christian living and religious instruction during the Reformation. A catechism focused on helping Christians lay hold of the deepest truths in the best ways was dearly needed during the tumultuous time of the Reformation.

This book offers a radically different perspective from that of many best-selling authors concerning how the Christian should measure and evaluate travel along God's path of righteousness. It will endeavor to persuade the listener that by feeding regularly on the Gospel in the Preached Word and The Supper, God promises to have His way with the Christian and He alone will accomplish all that is needed for life in Him to be complete. He is not waiting or requiring you to do anything first (during or after) to provide you with every blessing of the Gospel.

Mark doesn't waste words in his Gospel. His Jesus, the Jesus, is a man on a mission, determined, racing. Mark doesn't waste words, but his words pack a punch and his brief descriptions beg for deep reflection. Like a passenger in a car driving quickly, we can easily miss the details of the landscape if we don't pay careful attention. Mark sets us on a race, but it's important to stop along the way. A Path Strewn with Sinners sets us on Jesus' race to the cross, but it also insists we take time to ponder, to notice what Mark notes, and what he doesn't.
