Nine Lives started as a book written in 2009 by the New York Times best-selling author and former New Yorker writer Dan Baum. The non-fiction book marvelously covered nine "characters" in New Orleans, starting from Hurricane Betsy in 1965 through Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
