Avec ce spectacle, nous avons désiré mettre en lumière l'intelligence suraiguë de l'écrivain mais aussi son humour aussi brillant que ravageur. Comme nous l'avions fait avec certains de nos spectacles précédents.

"La Guerre de Troie n'aura pas lieu" a été créée en 1935, par les soins de Louis Jouvet. Après Siegfried, elle s'affirma - son succès en a témoigné - comme une des rares œuvres maîtresses du répertoire français contemporain à aborder un des grands problèmes politiques du temps. Jean Vilar l'a montée en 1962, pour le Festival d'Avignon, et l'a reprise au Théâtre National Populaire (TNP) en 1963.
