Edith Norma Shearer (August 11, 1902 – June 12, 1983) was a Canadian-American actress who was active on film from 1919 through 1942. Shearer often played spunky, sexually liberated women. She became the first five-time Academy Award acting nominee, winning Best Actress for The Divorcee in 1930.

David Wark Griffith, best known for directing the 1915 film "The Birth of a Nation," is considered one of the most influential figures in the history of the motion picture, pioneering many aspects of film editing and expanding the art of the narrative film. In 1919, together with Charlie Chaplin, Mary Pickford, and Douglas Fairbanks, Griffith founded the movie studio United Artists, with the goal of enabling actors and directors to make films on their own terms. This is a rare recording of Mel Trotter (1870-1940), a former alcoholic turned evangelist who was instrumental in the founding of 65 rescue missions. He was good friends with, and often substituted for, evangelists Billy Sunday and R. A. Torrey.
