The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes is the final set of twelve (out of a total of fifty-six) Sherlock Holmes short stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle first published in the Strand Magazine between October 1921 and April 1927. The first British edition and the first American edition of the collection were both published in June 1927. However, they had slightly different titles.

The Hound of the Baskervilles is the third of the four crime novels written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle featuring the detective Sherlock Holmes. Reader demand stimulated him to write another Holmes adventure - The Hound of the Baskervilles. The Return of Sherlock Holmes is a collection of 13 Sherlock Holmes stories, originally published in 1903-1904, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The stories were published in the Strand Magazine in Great Britain, and Collier's in the United States. The book was first published in February 1905 by McClure, Phillips & Co. (New York) then on 7 March 1905 by Georges Newnes, Ltd. (London) and was the first Holmes collection since 1893, when Holmes had "died" in "The Final Problem".

The Valley of Fear is the fourth and final Sherlock Holmes novel by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. It is loosely based on the Molly Maguires and Pinkerton agent James McParland. The Sign of the Four (1890), also called The Sign of Four, is the second novel featuring Sherlock Holmes written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Baron Collingwood's eldest son and title heir dies from a mysterious illness. Now that the second eldest son is also in bad condition, it seems that a curse has befallen the family. Neither doctors nor police are able to find the cause. Confronted with a riddle the Baron hires Holmes and Watson to solve the mystery before it is tool late.

On behalf of the British Museum Holmes and Watson travel to Wales. A dinosaur skull that was found in a coal mine was stolen before its transport to London. Finding the thief, however, turns out to be a challenge. It seems that the Celtic natives have other plans with the fossil.

There is a mole hiding in the British Embassy in Brussels. Important secret papers regarding the colonial politics have been stolen. In order to keep a diplomatic and international crisis from happening Holmes and Watson travel, of course incognito, to Belgium. There they want to put a stop to the traitor's game.

Inspector Lestrade asks Sherlock Holmes for help when the Chinese owner of an opium cave is murdered in London. Holmes, however, is not in full possession of his detecting skills, and Dr. Watson has to take over at first. At the scene he finds a big mystery.

Advised to take a day off, Holmes and Watson take a trip to the Royal Parks of Kew Gardens. But life has something else in store for them. Inside the alm house a bizarly placed body was found. The local security manager asks Holmes and Watson for their help.

Holmes faces a moral dilemma, when it turns out that his newest client is a former pirate captain. Years ago, he got cheated out of his share by his comrades, now he is asking Holmes for help with recovering his lost booty.

Shortly before the opening of a new ancient Egyptian exhibition at the British Museum, the main attraction disappears: The Pharaoh's Mummy was stolen from its Sarcophagus. The Curator desperately turns to Holmes and Watson and they happily take the case.

When the Crown Prince of Portugal visits London, a precious diamond, the Iguana's Tear, is stolen from him. Faced with the possibility of a devastating financial and political backlash for the Iberian Royal Family, Holmes and Dr. Watson are brought in to investigate matters before they escalate.

A few days before Christmas, Sherlock Holmes is confronted with a peculiar case. No other than the Ghost of Christmas Past is blackmailing the moneylender Jacob Marley. He is supposed to pay £ 10, 000 or he will never see his dogs again. Holmes and Watson take the lead.

Holmes and Watson travel to Bristol to investigate a murder. In the prestigious Walsingham School, a boarding school for young women of status, where the French teacher was brutally assaulted. Local Police are in the dark and the school principal asks the famous detective and his dear friend Watson from London for help.

A malicious murder of a highly unusual victim leads Sherlock Holmes to London Zoo. While Scotland Yard attaches little importance to the matter and closes the investigation, Holmes' logical prowess and astute observation skills lead him and Watson down a politically motivated and quite interesting road.

A precious artifact has been stolen from the library at Trinity College in Dublin. Holmes and Watson take on the challenge to solve the case and retrieve the historical artifact. Success is of the utmost importance. Otherwise it could spell disaster for the political stability of the British Empire.

When Dr. Watson returns to London from a weekend seminar, he finds hat Sherlock Holmes has been arrested. Inspector Lestrade refers Watson to a questionable psychiatric hospital where Holmes is jailed for mental incapacity.
