Most people have heard of the Celts - the elusive, ancient tribal people who resided in present-day England, Ireland, Scotland and France. Paradoxically characterized as both barbaric and innocent, the Celts appeal to the modern world as a symbol of a bygone era, a world destroyed by the ambition of empire and the spread of Christianity throughout Western Europe. Despite the pervasive cultural and literary influence of the Celts, shockingly little is known of their way of life and beliefs, because very few records of their stories exist.

Astrophil and Stella is an enchanting English sonnet sequence composed by Sir Philip Sidney in the 1580s. This collection consists of 108 sonnets and 11 songs, each woven with poetic artistry and emotional depth. The title itself holds a celestial allure: Astrophil derives from the Greek words "aster" (meaning star) and "phil" (meaning lover). Stella is the Latin word for star. In this poetic journey, Astrophil represents the star lover, while Stella embodies the star itself. Their relationship unfolds through the sonnets and songs, capturing the complexities of love, desire, and longing.

"The Theogony" (“Birth of the Gods”) is a poem by Hesiod which describes the origin, position and relationships of the gods of the Greek pantheon. Hesiod created a synthesis of the diverse Greek traditions concerning the gods, in the form of a hymn invoking Zeus and the Muses. The Theogony is the first known Greek mythical cosmogony. However, it should not be considered as the authoritative source of Greek mythology, but rather as a portrait of a dynamic tradition that was recorded around 700 BCE.
