Imagine a planet without any life, except for human beings! Imagine a wasteland, where there are no natural resources left! Imagine that you are the first person in over a century to suddenly get a chance to build back the planet! Would you be willing to take risks and fight against the powers that tell you that the world can’t be changed?

Zak Nine and his Quom friend, Erro, are desperate to get off planet Alcatraz. The boys believe they've finally found a way to freedom when they join up with another prisoner. Together with their new partner, the boys board a small spacecraft and fly off the planet, past the metal moon, and head into space. But when the stars begin to look strange, Zak and Erro realize that something is very wrong. What will happen when the boys learn Planet Alcatraz's biggest secret? Will they ever get to return home?

Traveling by night, Zak Nine and Erro are following a shadowy figure until the mysterious stranger disappears into a cave. The boys decide to follow. Inside they find a maze filled with priceless gems, along with a rough band of escaped criminals. Things go from bad to worse when a squad of Alcatraz guards arrives on the scene.

Hoping to avoid the Alcatraz guards, Zak Nine and Erro decide to climb down into a deep canyon to hide. But soon, the boys see some huge rock formations that move! Zak and Erro are quickly caught by the giant criminals that have been imprisoned in the deep gorge.

Zak Nine has been captured and placed in Planet Alcatraz's "Monster Zoo." But this isn't any ordinary zoo. This zoo holds dozens of alien "monsters" who are forced to fight for the entertainment of the prison planet's owners.

Zak Nine and Erro have come up with a brilliant plan to escape. They'll simply hide onboard a prison ship and ride it to freedom on another planet! Unfortunately, the boys don't get far when the ship docks at one of Planet Alcatraz's metallic moons.

Zak Nine and Erro have escaped! But now they find themselves lost in a vast forest of alien birds and deadly plants. Things grow even worse when they hear strange buzzing sounds just above the treetops attack drones! The prison guards are searching for the boys using a flock of remote bots, armed with flame-throwers and sleeping gas! Will the boys outwit the bots and find a way off Planet Alcatraz?

Children learn that sorting, recycling, and giving new life to old things is not only good for the environment. It is a whole lot of fun, too!
