In The Plot Thickens, Billy, a kind of private eye, is called in when crimes are being reported involving flat complexes. He questions the lady who owns the apartments in the area and starts becoming suspicious immediately. Is she telling the truth? He resolves to find out and make sure that the sergeant's faith in him does not go unwarranted. It is not so easy to find the evidence that he needs, but he is never one to give up. Flere hundrede af dem mistede livet under det farlige arbejde. Krigen er forbi, og stranden er fyldt med miner. Dem skal de tyske soldater fjerne, før de kan drage hjem. Men de mangler et kort over minernes placering. Eksplosioner flænger luften. Mange bliver sårede. Nogle mister en arm... et ben. Andre mister livet. Men arbejdet fortsætter.
