Erich Mühsam war den Nazis, aber auch allen anderen Anhängern eines deutschen Obrigkeitsstaates als Jude, als Antifaschist, als Dichter des Klassenkampfes und als geistiger Anführer der Münchener Räterepublik verhasst. Vor allem war er ihnen jedoch verhasst, weil er bis zuletzt an der Utopie einer befreiten Menschheit festhielt.
