Ralph could be described as a rogue on a good day. A bad day involved a lot of cursing, calling him a pirate, or sometimes even having a shoot-out. It wasn't really his fault of course, or so he would have you believe. It was the fault of those who wanted to get in his way of making as much money as possible as a smuggler. His family had been gifted with a letter of marque for the Terran Confed, one that is inherited and has been passed down to him. Essentially, it gives him a lot of loopholes and ways through regulations to be a fantastic smuggler. Or as a legal pirate, a Privateer.

Dirk and company can rest easy. The ship isn't listed as stolen, Dirk's warrant is cancelled, and in return they just have to do a tiny favor for Tribune Devin. How difficult can it be to update his ship's weapons, find out what's going on core ward, and help look into Scruggs's warrant—and meet up with an ex-girlfriend? What could possibly go wrong? But when a botched heist, a crooked repair deal, and the sudden appearance of an enemy warship complicate things, Dirk has to decide. Is he a mercenary, a privateer, or a loyal servant of the Empire? Or can he be all three a once.

Extensive training molded Bruce into a finely tuned mercenary. A man capable of scouring the galaxy to protect the innocent and vanquish the corrupt. An assignment to a distant outer system brings mystery, death, and mayhem. During his mission, a chance encounter with a stunning royal in a dimly lit bar results in all hell breaking loose. Save the damsel, figure out the mystery, and kill all the bad guys. If only saving humanity was that simple.
