Story0
From the summer of 1938, British women from all walks of life joined the Women's Voluntary Services (WVS). This disparate band of women came together for the common good - to help serve and protect their communities. By 1941 a million women had enrolled. These brave and dutiful women played a vital role in Britain's victory. The positive impact of the WVS on wartime society was universally acknowledged. They were instrumental in implementing the large-scale evacuation of children from bomb-targeted cities, in the care of the wounded, and in keeping those in war service fed.

Story0
In the decades since the "forgotten war" in Korea, conventional wisdom has held that the Eighth Army consisted largely of poorly trained, undisciplined troops who fled in terror from the onslaught of the Communist forces. Now, military historian Thomas E. Hanson argues that the generalizations historians and fellow soldiers have used regarding these troops do little justice to the tens of thousands of soldiers who worked to make themselves and their army ready for war.

Story0
Reconcile Me Not! is a four-part podcast series that examines reconciliation and what is my role. I am interviewing my mother, Christine Solomon, as a Tuberculosis (TB) sanatorium, residential school, and 60s Scoop survivor to support my reflection on reconciliation and by asking my mother to clarify and share her experiences in her own words. I am collecting data from the interviews with my mother to incorporate her lived experiences in my research.Artwork by Jason Petiquan.Sponsored by Edmonton Arts Council. Hosted on Acast.
