Jon Ryan has some unfinished business. Since he caused the universe to reboot, well, he can't seem to find his wife of two billion years. That's one great big oops. He also can't find the massive time ship Aramthella and her human crew. Double oops. And then there's the matter of not knowing whey why there are several copies of key people in the new reality he must navigate. Triple oops. He actually knows one whole heck of a lot less about his current situation than seems healthy. But he's Jon Ryan, former fighter pilot turned android warrior for humankind.

It was Chris Alan's very first day of seventh grade. That's hard. It's bad. No child should be asked to do such an awful thing. Humiliation, embarrassment, and social isolation await him. Then, of all days, the aliens decide to launch their conquest of Earth. So, along with Chris's preteen angst, he gets aerial bombardment, and then vicious insectile aliens pile out of their ships and start killing humans in earnest. What a rotten first day of class!

Our hero Chris Alan has been in some tight situations, to be sure. Hostile alien invasion, daring rescues of his friends, and trials by the insane kidnapper. But now he's marooned alone on the most hostile planet in the galaxy with no food, water, communication equipment, or spaceship. It couldn't look any bleaker. All he has to do is pull off another miracle with absolutely no resources or reasonable hope of survival. Just another day in the life of a teenage boy. Same old, same old, right?

In the first book in the series, against all odds, Chris Alan was able to defeat most of the aliens who had conquered Earth. By enlisting the help of a renegade alien AI and her ship, he was able to kill off most of the Dostivex Masters before they could even land. But a significant number of the predatory monsters was already in the process of eating their way through our species. Then, in that darkest hour, out of nowhere, a new alien fleet arrived in orbit and finished off the remnants of the brutal alien subjugators.

Mostly, he's accomplished this antisocial feat by exterminating them because they posed a threat to galactic peace or common decency. As with any action, there can be an equal and opposite reaction. Now, a fundamental force of existence named Xyándor is after Jon. You see, Xyándor's sole purpose is to spawn chaos. So he's dead set on killing Jon because our hero snuffs out chaos on a routine basis. Most likely, this Xyándor character must've had a really troubled childhood, right?

When Robert (or Kidder, as his best friend calls him) decides to impress at a job interview by making up a son, he discovers that maintaining the lie is far harder than he thought - so he invents a story that 'Brodie' has been kidnapped. After all, it's not like they're going to find the fake boy. But a few weeks later, Kidder receives a call to collect his nonexistent son from the police station, a boy who looks exactly like the picture he photoshopped....
