Titus Salt was a remarkable British manufacturer, politician, and philanthropist, celebrated for his creation of Salts Mill, a pioneering textile mill, along with the adjoining village of Saltaire. Here, he transformed the lives of over 4,000 employees by providing cleaner air, quality housing, education, banking, churches, recreational spaces, shorter working hours, and fair wages. Salts innovative work with alpaca thread catapulted him to fame and fortune, earning him a baronetcy from the British Crown in 1869.
