Vi er bl.a. på Brogården, hvor Pauli og Ragna driver landbrug og minkfarm, og vi hører perifert om Manne, den unge pige, der optræder i begge romanerne, men novellesamlingen bevæger sig også uden for det lille samfund, bl.a. foregår nogle af novellerne i Norge og København.
