Sandy Fin lives in the Museum of Seaside Stories with the famous explorer Emile du Pont and their collection of treasures. Sandy and his best friend Lily are being taught the art of ocean exploration by Emile, aided by his ingenious inventions. When the museum's future is in peril, it is up to Sandy and Lily to save it. But then Albo Start arrives! Start plans to turn Portwhistle Bay into a Seaworld-style theme park named Splash Landing, locking up Portwhistle’s cherished marine life in tiny tanks.

Marzana and her best friend are bored. Even though they live in a notorious city where normal rules do not apply, nothing interesting ever happens to them. Nothing, that is, until Marzana's parents are recruited to help solve an odd crime, and she realizes that this could be the excitement she's been waiting for. She assembles a group of kid detectives with special skills - including the ghost of a ship captain's daughter - and together, they explore hidden passageways, navigate architecture that changes overnight, and try to unravel the puzzle of who the kidnappers are.

Sixth-grader Ruth Mudd-Flaherty hasn't yet found her place at Humberboldt Middle School, at least that's how her moms see it. She prefers to be a lone wolf now that her very best friend, Charlotte Diamond, has moved on to a new, more socially acceptable group of friends. Ruth has been spending most of her time at the public library studying words for their school's upcoming spelling bee. She just knows that winning the bee will make people see her differently.
