Late one evening, investigative journalist Bastian Obermayer receives an anonymous message offering him access to secret data. Sheila Shepherd was 22 when her body was discovered on Nov. 25, 1980, inside her Saratoga Springs, New York apartment. She was found naked, bound and gagged, with a five-inch steak knife in her abdomen. Investigators believe she had been suffocated two days before she was found, and stabbed after she died.
