Ryan Aglecard can't wait to celebrate Riveria's Spirit Week, a legendary summer festival in honor of the Great Spirits. In his college town of Riverside, the festivities are getting underway with especially extravagant flair, but Ryan's Spirit Keeper abilities sense something disturbing beneath the sparkling firelight celebrations and thrilling mage demonstrations. Suddenly, his summer isn't the relaxed one he expected, and he begins gathering new spirits to his side, ones with unique skills beyond his familiarity.

Ryan Aglecard figures he's no one special. He's just studying business, hanging out with his friends, and working at his uncle's coffee shop in a multispecies metropolis that never sleeps. But his normal life is overturned when a strange ruby found amid his father's old things ignites his abilities as a Spirit Keeper. With the surprise discovery that he's one of the Awakened—a select few capable of wielding legendary magic—Ryan will have to work with his Knight Spirit, Maximus, to master a killer learning curve.
